Branding and Business Card Design for Brighton-based PR agency Midnight

Midnight

Midnight are an award-winning PR agency based in Brighton.

They approached me to rebrand their business and focus on being less corporate and more contemporary boutique agency. They felt their previous brand logo lacked creative flair and personality.

The chosen logo design includes a speech bubble graphic which is an iconic and universal symbol for communication. The speech bubble shape can be used as a graphic device for holding text and images, and can be used across the brand elements to build a strong personality. The typeface is contemporary and uppercase gives a feeling of authority. The word and graphic intersecting creates interest, along with a bold colour palette.

The business card design needed to more impact, so we decided on a bright white premium paper stock to set off the cyan and magenta colour palette. The speech bubble was slightly debossed with a metallic magenta foil, which changes when it catches the light. On the reverse we went for a linear texture to give a tactile feel and to create a contrast with the front.

“We really enjoyed working with Charlotte during the process of our re-brand. From the very beginning, we felt that she understood the personality we wanted to portray in every aspect of the material she designed for us. We would always be happy to recommend her as a designer”.

Beau & Bell

Beau & Bell are a Brighton-based bell tent and giant tipi company, providing hire for weddings, festivals, corporate and private events.

Founder, David, contacted me initially with the help of updating their logo. Then a completely bespoke website design, branded promotional brochures and a design for vehicle livery followed.

David also wanted to create some vector illustrations that could be used across the website, brochures and van livery. I suggested we create some scenes that would be centred around a wedding reception, showing a giant tipi and a bell tent village in a rural setting.

Killing Kittens

A redesign for the KK logomark for Killing Kittens, a London-based events company which hosts adult parties to sexually liberate women, men and couples.

The brief:

  • The logo should consist of two Ks
  • The typeface/font style should exude quality, sex appeal and class without appearing too old-fashioned
  • Playful elements are encouraged
  • The design should be strong but feminine to represent the strength of our independent female members of the community
  • 50/50 open-minded men, women and couples that transcend race, gender and beliefs.

My rationale:

The two K’s represent the male and female gender. The K on the left represents the male, the K on the right is the female intertwined around the male. Killing Kittens is about female empowerment; being and feeling sexy. The added embellishment to the end of the female K on the left represents the female symbol.

To empower women on a journey to sexual liberation, exploring their desires and sexuality without fear of judgment, in a safe environment.

Modern Apothecary Bottles

Modern Apothecary

After working with Lisa on the rebrand of her men’s skincare range Rehab London, she wanted me to be involved in her new range of skincare aimed at women.

The new branding needed to have shelf presence and stand out in a saturated marketplace. The simple, clean label and packaging design reflected the natural ingredients of the cacay oil and be seen as medicine for the skin.

Charlotte was recommended to me to design from concept to shelf brand designs that were strong enough to penetrate a competitive market. Her results, insight and abilities were outstanding and integral to the success of both my brands
